On August 15, Club Jamila will transform The Cat’s Crawl into an immersive celebration of SWANA (Southwest Asian and North African) arts, music, and culture. More than a performance and fundraiser, Club Jamila is a curated nightlife experience featuring live music, belly dance, Afghan dance, Iranian dance, dabke, henna, coffee cup readings, curated cocktails, and local artists.
This year’s event is especially meaningful as it celebrates the 100th anniversary of Jamila Salimpour, whose work helped shape the landscape of belly dance in the United States. Club Jamila brings together both established and emerging artists to honor that legacy while creating space for contemporary cultural expression and community.
At a time when Los Angeles is embracing more immersive and community-driven arts experiences, Club Jamila offers something unique: an evening where performance, cultural education, and celebration exist in the same space. It is designed to welcome everyone, whether they are deeply connected to SWANA culture or simply curious to experience an unforgettable night of music, dance, and storytelling.
